Imagine losing a loved one in the blink of an eye. One minute you’re driving down the road and the next minute another vehicle slams into yours, leaving your beloved spouse, parent or child dead. This is a terrible scenario, but unfortunately accidents like this happen every day. When someone loses a loved in a car accident they often wonder what they should do about it. Likewise, when someone is seriously hurt in an accident they might wonder if they have any options. Is there anything they can do to hold the other person responsible if it was that person’s fault?

An elderly woman suffered critical injuries and lost her husband at the same time when the couple was involved in a serious car crash that recently occurred in Ada Township. According to reports the couple was traveling together when their vehicle was slammed into by another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. According to reports, the driver of the second vehicle lost control of his pickup truck and crossed the center line into the elderly couple’s lane.

Authorities say that the 18-yearold driver lost control of his truck due to wet roads. The 93-year-old man who was driving the first vehicle died at the scene. His 91-year-old wife was taken to the hospital with reportedly critical injuries. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries. The crash is still under investigation and no charges were reported at the time of the incident. However, if investigators determine that the 18-year-old driver was negligent or careless in any way then charges could be forthcoming. For example, if it turns out that excessive speed played a role in the crash that could be grounds for charging the man with a crime.

This is obviously a terrible tragedy for the victims and their family. While it is not yet known if the other driver in the crash acted negligently in any way, if it turns out that he did then the family of the victims could pursue a lawsuit against him. Of course, no amount of money will undo the damage that occurred, but if the 18-year-old driver was reckless or careless then the victims and their family members should be compensated for their injuries, pain and suffering. When someone is hurt in a motor vehicle accident, they should not wait to act. It’s a good idea to contact a personal injury attorney as soon as possible.
